Naming the Nameless: Using Genetic Genealogy to Bring Victims Home

Genetic genealogy techniques used in adoption cases are now being used to identify victims of crimes and mass disasters. Cases discussed will include DNA Doe Project’s (DDP) identification of 103-year-old bones in a cave to the victims of the 2018 Camp Fire. The methods DDP has used in solving over 40 cases to date will be covered as well as the challenges facing those working in this exploding field.
