Many of us can point to a Cousin Jack in our family trees. Cousin Jacks were Cornishmen, typically miners, who had left their homeland to pursue work in countries like the United States, Australia, South Africa, and Latin America. Using case studies, we’ll look at the push and pull factors causing these men and their families to leave Cornwall and settle abroad.
