How do we join Jambo Expo?

First, your society needs to qualify for your free booth (see above).  Upon approval by Margaret Rutledge, here is what you do.
If you’ve been a Jamboree Society Partner in the past, sign into your partner account (your email is your account log in), update your information and complete the fields for the new features  http://Partners.SCGSgenealogy.com

Not sure if you have an account?  Drop us an email and we’ll look up your organization.  Email:  JamboExpo@SCGSgenealogy.com

New to Jamboree?  Click here Partners.SCGSgenealogy.com/sign-up/, fill in the application (as completely as possible, please) and you’re on your way.

We’ll be back to you (usually within 48-72 hours) and send you the link to your new Jamboree Society account where you will add your organization's logo, additional social media links, show special description, prize drawing, etc.

What is the deadline for joining?

Please join Jambo Expo by completing your account information by Monday, August 1, 2022, so we can display your booth, Show Special or Prize Drawing(s) by August 19. Your account information must include complete contact information (address, email, phone) plus addresses for web sites, FaceBook pages, and any other social media that you use.

What does an Expo exhibit booth look like?

See samples of last year's Virtual Exhibit Hall and a Virtual Booth. You supply the logo, description, and contact information for your society.

What is a Show Special and how does it work?

A Show Special offers a product or service at a discount during the entire conference period. Here are a few ideas:

  • Discounted or expanded memberships.
  • Research Services – Many Societies offer research services. A percentage off or a free amount of time can introduce your service to attendees and hopefully create larger projects and further inquiries.
  • An example might be “Free Consultation – 30 min free research of our Society’s unpublished County resources” or “25% Off – 25% off one hour of our research services. We can help with County and State research and/or evaluate your past research suggesting your next steps.”
  • Publications – Books or guides that your Society publishes.
  • Bling – Tee shirts, bags, fun things that you’ve created and sell.

How does an attendee buy from me?

Your entrants click the "Get This Offer” button on your Jambo Expo booth page, and it will open up the person's email app with the email address you supply. Alternatively, it might send them to a web form that they fill out. You collect the emails and communicate directly with the individuals.

What’s a Prize Drawing and how does it work?

Prizes are a way to draw attention to your Society by having something fun – a chance to win! Your Society also can collect the emails of these entrants for future marketing. Here are some possible drawing prizes\s:

  • Books or periodicals published by your Society.
  • A free one-year Society Membership (especially good if you have speakers who present on Zoom).
  • Free 30-minutes research or look-ups in your proprietary records, such as a newspaper clippings file currently not online.
  • Free 1-hour research in a database you have behind a members-only wall.
  • Free 1-hour consultation. A great way to have your brick wall reviewed by fresh eyes.

How often do I have to draw a winner?

You decide how often to draw for a prize – once at the end of each conference, once a day or even once an hour. It’s all up to you. Send us back the winner’s name and what they won and we’ll announce it on the Jamboree social media along with your society's name. If you draw more than once, draw early in the conferences so your name will be included in our announcements before Jambo Expo closes.

How does an attendee join my Prize Drawing?

Your entrants click the "Enter Now” button on your Jambo Expo booth page, and it will open up the person's email app with the email address you supply. You collect the emails and randomly draw your winner(s).

What's the difference between a Show Special and the Prize Drawing?

A Show Special item is available for sale at the published discount for as long as Jambo Expo is open. The Expo will remain open from Friday, August 19 at 9 am (PDT) until Sunday, August 27 at 12 midnight (PDT). In other words, anyone can take advantage of your sale and buy that item for the 9 days the Expo is open.

Prize Drawings are a great way to get your name and offerings in front of Jamboree attendees, SCGS social media followers, free-event attendees and Jambo Expo visitors. These prizes are given away by you sometime during the 9 days the Expo is open.

What do we get out of the Prize Drawings?

Hopefully, your Society gets these wins from participating:

  • Discovery by people whose ancestors lived in your region.
  • Winners who are interested in joining your society or who want research services you can provide.
  • Exposure on social media of your Society’s name and resources.
  • A list of emails from genealogists who took the time to enter your contest.

Will the Show Specials and Prizes be "pre-approved"?

To meet our attendees high expectations, the Jambo Expo strives to create an exciting atmosphere where visitors may find items related to genealogy and family history.  Please offer only items of interest to genealogists and family history researchers.
