Registration Questions

What are registration deadlines?

Early Bird Registration discounts have been EXTENDED and will close 21 April 2018 at 11:59 pm (PST).
Pre-registration closes 12 May 2018. Registration changes and cancellations are not accepted after 12 May 2018.
Walk-in registrations arewelcome and accepted at the Registration Kiosk. Many seperate-fee events, such as workshops and meals, will not be available at Walk-In Registration.

How much does each Conference Cost?

Can I email or call in with a question?

Of course!  Email the Resistration Team at Jamboree Registration Team or call the Library during normal open hours at 818-843-7247.  If we can't answer your question, we'll ask a Registration Team member to return your call.

Will you still have multiple conference discounts?

Yes.  You receive a discount when you sign-up for Genetic Genealogy Conference and Genealogy Jamboree OR Family History Writers Conference and Genealogy Jamboree. The Genetic Genealogy and Family History Writers conferences run concurrently on Thursday, May 31.  Genealogy Jamboree is Friday and Saturday, June 1 & 2.  There are additonal discounts for members of SCGS for every event. Also, you get a discount before Early Bird ends in mid April!.  To see the prices and download the mail-in registration form, please click here.

What types of payments will you take?

You may pay for online registrations by credit card (VISA or MasterCard) or by sending a check by mail. Credit card sales process immediately and we encourage you to use this method. Registrations paid by check are not complete until the check is received.  This may delay your registration for up to a week while waiting for your check to arrive. Registrations are not complete, i.e., you are not enrolled in limited-seating special events, such as workshops or banquets, until your payment is received.

I’ve always registered by mail.  Can I still do that?

Yes.  It’s fast and easy to register in our new online registration system, but you can print the registration form and send it along with your check to the address on the last page of the form.  For your security, we can no longer accept credit card numbers through the mail. Why no classes on Sunday this year?

Attendees, Volunteers, Exhibitors, and Sponsors have all voiced a desire to be home for Sunday. We’ll give this a try in 2018. Your comments are welcome and will be taken into consideration for future conferences. You may email:

How do I register for a Workshop?

Workshops are a separate-fee benefit for conference attendees. To register for a workshop, you must be registered for at least one day of Genealogy Jamboree or the Genetic Genealogy Day or the Family History Writers Conference. In addition, a workshop may have pre-requisites or mandatory assignments prior to the class. They may also require a laptop or tablet in class. Please check the Workshop Requirements link prior to ordering. Workshops can be ordered at the same time as registering for the Conferences or added to an existing order. You may only sign-up for one workshop.

What if a Workshop is full?

Our workshops are very popular and often fill quickly.  All workshops will have wait lists, if necessary. A wait list may be closed when a maximum number has been met. We encourage you to join the waitlist as registrants can, and do, drop workshops.

Can I change my registration after I paid?

Yes, you can make changes and additions to your registered events until May 12, 2018 without penalty. Here's how:
To remove and refund an event or remove and replace and event (such as switch from one meal to another), click on the red circular arrow for the event you want to remove, then register for the event you want to add. Click CHECKOUT. Your new Cart will list the refunded item and the new purchase. You will be charged (or credited) for the difference.

How are refunds and returned checks handled?

Registrations made online and paid by credit card may be refunded thru the online registration system. You may cancel one event of your complete registration by 12 May 2018. 
Refund requests for registrations paid by check must be received by email ( or by mail (Attn: Jamboree Refund, SCGS, 417 Irving Drive, Burbank, CA 91504-2408) and postmarked no later than 12 May 2018.  Refunds, less a $25 service fee, will be processed after the conference and issued no later than 31 July. 
For checks returned for insufficient funds in the account, SCGS will charge a fee of $35 for each returned check.  Returned checks must be paid by cash, money order, cashier's check, or a credit card.
